“The task ahead of you is never as great as the power behind you” I have this written on a little card as a reminder that God is much bigger than anything else in my life. Psalm 93 also reminds us of this very same thing. “The floods have risen up, O Lord. The floods have roared like thunder; the floods have lifted their pounding waves. But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore – the Lord above is mightier than these!” (3-4) Want proof of this claim? Mark 4:35-41, is an example of this. “As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!” God is much stronger and more powerful than anything you could face in this life. He is mightier than any enemy that could come up against you. His strength far outweighs anyone, or anything else here on earth. Take comfort in knowing that there is nothing that God can’t handle. Nothing is too big for him. If God is on our side, who can be against us?
