Reason to be Thankful

“When I think about the Lord; how he saved me, how he raised me, how he filled me with the Holy Ghost, how he healed me to the utter most. When I think about the Lord, how he picked me up, turned me around and set my feet on solid ground. It makes me want to shout, ‘Hallelujah! Thank-you Jesus! Lord, you’re worthy of all the glory all the honor and all the praise!’ (Shane and Shane; “When I Think About the Lord”) When you take the time to stop and think about all that God has done for you, how can you not thank Him? Psalm 92 says, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning and your faithfulness in the evening…. You thrill me Lord with all that you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. O, Lord, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts.” (1-2, 4-5) The Psalmist was truly thankful for all that the Lord had done for him. Not only did he thank the Lord, but he praised him. Sometimes when I get caught up in the temporary moments of my life when I am frustrated and overwhelmed, it helps for me to remember what God has done for me before. It helps me to remember where I have been and where I am now. (two totally different places) When I stop and think about all that God has done for me, I find it difficult not to thank him. I find it difficult not to lift my hands or my voice up in praise to my Mighty God. When was the last time you took some time to remember where God has brought you from? When was the last time you stopped to thank him and praise him for all that he has done for you?
