God's Power

Storms can be a pretty powerful sight to behold. If you have ever sat and watched one, you can see just how powerful they really are. Some storms are so powerful that there isn’t much that can stand up against them. Often the storms we face in life can knock us down and affect our lives in such a way that it is difficult to stand up against them. God is far more powerful than anything we could ever face. Whether that would be a storm in the physical sense, or a storm that alters the course of our lives, God is far more powerful. God is righteous and just and all of creation is under his great power. In Psalm 97, you can see a hint of the power of God. “Fire spreads ahead of him and burns up all his foes. His lightning flashes out across the world. The earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth” (3-5) All of these things that seem so incredibly powerful to us, pale in comparison to the power of God. This goes for our circumstances as well. They may threaten to knock us down and destroy us, but God is far more powerful than any of it. God’s plan and purpose for our lives will prevail over anything that could and will come our way. “For you, O Lord, are supreme over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods” (9)
