“I pray with all my heart; answer me, Lord! I will obey your decrees. I cry out to you; rescue me, that I may obey your laws. I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise. In your faithful love, O Lord, hear my cry; let me be revived by following your regulations. Lawless people are coming to attack me; they live far from your instructions. But you are near, O Lord, and all your commands are true. I have known from my earliest days that your laws will last forever.” (Psalm 119:145-152)
All of God’s promises prove true. He is truth. His Words are truth. To the Psalmist they are the very essence of life, the very reason he is able to stand against his enemies and not fall. He has so devoted himself to the Word that he is fully aware of what is truth and what is not, this enables him to have power against his enemies who try to lie to him. The Psalmist turns to God in the midst of his trouble and relies on Him and His Word to strengthen and protect him from the evil people around him who try to take him down. When we are in the midst of troublesome times, God is near us. He is always near us even when times are not full of trouble. His Word is always true! Absolute truth never changes. It is always true in every circumstance. Looking to God for the truth when we are in the midst of trouble will enable us to stand strong against those who threaten to take us down. Do you have power behind you which enables you to withstand the lies that come your way?
